We are able to fit and remove most contraceptive implants. If you would like to book an appointment for this:
- Please note that you must have discussed this recently with a GP at the practice and/or a clinician at a sexual health clinic or hospital
- Contact reception and specifically request an implant fitting or removal appointment
- You will be asked to come in on a Thursday morning for the Lead GP to check that this is a viable procedure to be conducted at the practice. Some implants are tricker than others to fit/remove.
- If the doctor is happy to proceed you will be offered a Thursday morning appointment with both the doctor and the nurse
- There is little flexibility to the appointment time offered as both clinicians are required to be present
- You must collect the implant (if you are having a fitting) from your pharmacy and bring it to the appointment. We do not have spares on site
- You must let us know well in advance as only the Lead GP is qualified to remove/fit implants and this is a joint appointment which must be arranged with the nurse for dressing after the procedure.
